Having your toilet clog on you can feel like a cataclysm of chaos and horrible luck, but it happens to us all. The only way to get rid of it is to get down to the dirty nitty-gritty and unclog it. But, to prevent any accidents and horrifying slashes, we’ve provided some tips on how to properly unclog your toilet with ease. Follow these steps and you’ll be unclogging your toilet like a pro. However, if you still feel more comfortable by hiring a professional plumber, we recommend calling the company Genesis Plumber based in El Paso, TX.

  1. Stop Water Flow

After you flush once and see that there is indeed a clog, let the water stop. Plunging with the water flowing is the easiest way to get yourself slashed by toilet water. So, wait for the water to be unmoving and make sure you no longer hear any signs of the flush before moving on to the next step.

  1. Open the Water Tank

Behind every toilet is a water tank. This has a couple valves and keeps the water at a proper level. Carefully remove the top of the water tank and place it to the side.

  1. Unplug your Rubber Toilet Flap

Inside of the water tank should be a rubber flap. Usually it is either red or navy blue. There it is shaped similar to a flattened plunger and has a metal chain attached to it and the inside of the toilet’s water tank. Unplug this and let all the water drain out. And don’t worry, all the water in the water tank should be clean.

  1. Plunge the Toilet

Now you can et to the actual plunging. Place the center of the plunger’s head in the open mouth of the toilet. Make sure it covers the entire space. Now pull down and back repeatedly with a stable pressure. After a few pumps, you will hear a draining sound. The toilet is now essentially unclogged!

  1. Flush Once

To ensure that the toilet is in fact drained, flush once. The water should dispel and flow like normally. If not, and the toilet is still clogged, repeat the previous steps again. If this still doesn’t work, but the toilet is also unclogged, you may need to call a professional because you have an actual plumbing issue instead of just a clogged toilet.

Otherwise just replace the rubber toilet flap in place tightly and secure the water tank’s top back on the back of your commode and everything should be once again right with the world. For more tips how to unclog your toilet without a plunger, read this article.
